Billed as Africa’s premier event for the transport, logistics, materials handling and fleet industries, TruckX 2017 promises plenty of insights, action, adventure and adrenaline!
The event has been planned as an all-encompassing experience for South Africa’s commercial transport industry. With the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit making its début as the new venue for the show – to be held on July 12 and 13 – the expo and its associated conferences, co-sponsored by Standard Bank and Ctrack by Inseego, promise much in the way of commercial vehicle interaction and intelligence.
One of the special events you won’t want to miss involves fleet management specialist Ctrack by Inseego, which has teamed up with Eicher Trucks – a Volvo Group and Eicher Motors joint venture – to offer a driving challenge with a difference.
Behind the steering wheel of an Eicher Pro Series truck – which will be launched at the show – you’ll pit your skills against the brand’s top driver in a race to see who achieves maximum efficiency, and you’ll be filmed while competing!
Another event in which Ctrack’s telematics systems will be utilised involves South Africa’s Express Parcel Association (SAEPA), which will host a Speed in a Suit competition – an event especially designed for transport industry execs!
Slide into the cockpit of an express courier vehicle and you’ll be all set to dazzle, the aim being to achieve the quickest time around Kyalami’s Dynamic Handling Track using the least amount of fuel. Two express courier vehicles will be provided for courageous executives to take on the challenge.
On the conference side, a cutting-edge speaker line-up includes Brand Pretorius, former CEO of McCarthy Retail, who will address delegates on the real value of good leadership, and Tony Smallwood, executive head of IoT Solutions at Vodacom SA who will talk about the impact the Internet of Things has made on society.
Other industry heavyweights who will analyze pressing transport issues include Adrian van Tonder, chairman of the Road Transport Management System; Adrian Velaers, senior technical adviser at Sasol; Ben Theron, chief operations officer at OUTA and Craig Parker, programme manager for mobility at Frost & Sullivan.
Whether your speciality is trucks, fleet, logistics, supply chain management or materials handling, you’ll find something of interest at TruckX. Entrance to the event is free, though you’ll have to register to attend by logging on to www.truckx.co.za.
If you’d like to attend one or both of the conferences that will be held at the event – TruckX on Day One or FleetX on Day Two – the cost of each is R995 including lunch, with a discount offered if you book for both conferences. If you’re interested in attending, log on to www.truckx.co.za for details.
