Mercedes-Benz Vans has produced its three millionth Sprinter van. Since launch in 1995, the model has been available in over 130 countries with 2015 marking its most successful growth period in terms of sales, global uptake registering a rise of 13% on the previous year’s figure.
According to a company spokesman, apart from Europe, key markets include the USA, Mexico, Australia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
At an event in Germany to mark production of the three millionth unit, Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, described the feat as an example of how the brand’s growth strategy was paying dividends. The Sprinter is produced around the world at six plants.
