PinkDrive NPC, a member of Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), lead with cancer screening and awareness outreaches as part of South Africa’s contribution to World Cancer Day at the Leratong Hospital in Gauteng, the RK Khan Hospital in KwaZulu Natal and Khayelitsha Hospital in Cape Town.
Prof Salim Abdool Karim, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Board visited the RK Khan Hospital and addressed patients on South Africa’s fight against Gender Related Cancers. He was honoured by PinkDrive with a PinkDiamond award for his work in in HIV, TB Research and COVID 19.
Funding from Vumatel, Hollywoodbets and Sandton Plant Hire allowed PinkDrive to take their Mobile Women’s Health Unit to provide screening and education for gender related cancers including Breast, Cervical and Prostate cancer to these indigent communities.
World Cancer Day is the one singular initiative under which the entire world can unite in the fight against the global cancer epidemic. It takes place every year on 4 February. World Cancer Day aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer and pressing governments and individuals across the world to take action against the disease.
The theme for 2021 is “I AM and I WILL”.
PinkDrive NPC, a significant player in the gender related cancer sector, has joined forces with the Department of Health to bring critical screening to these facilities where health care facilities require support to accommodate these additional screening services during COVID-19.
