DAF has introduced to the international market its latest range of CF and XF trucks which feature engine innovations, new drivelines and aerodynamic optimisations.
According to a statement released by the company, the revisions have resulted in a 7% decrease in fuel consumption, while the implementation of DAF’s new Connect fleet management system is aimed at providing even greater efficiency gains.
“DAF has enriched the exterior styling of the models with subtle and stylish elements, like the XF’s identity plate in the doorstep which welcomes the driver to the luxurious interior. A new DAF nameplate with a redesigned DAF logo featuring chrome letters symbolise the trucks’ quality,” says the statement, “while accents in the bumper and sun visor give the exterior an extra touch of richness, as do decorative strips in the grille and, for the XF, a new grille mesh.”
The statement attributes the trucks’ fuel efficiency to the full integration of an innovative driveline system designed to achieve optimum interaction between engine, after-treatment system, transmission and rear axles.
“A key principle when developing the new drivelines was to reduce engine revs for best-in-class fuel efficiency. Maximum torque of the PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines has been increased significantly and is available from 900 rpm to allow down speeding of the engine. The top-of-the range PACCAR MX-13 engine produces 390kW and 2 600Nm of torque at 1 000 revs/min,” the statement says.
It adds that air management of PACCAR MX engines has been improved through use of a new turbocharger, a new EGR system and a new valve actuation design, with thermal efficiency enhanced through the development of a new combustion system which includes a high compression ratio coupled with new pistons, injectors and injection strategies.
